myLot Discussions| An Ode To My Incredible Dirt Devil! | | Dear dirt devil, I know, I abuse the hell out of you all the time and you never complain ... thank you for the years of wonderful service you have provided me. When I saw that myLot had added a section for 'products I use', I knew that I had to create a listing for you and all the other dirt devil products I own. When the Fruit Loops fly across the room or the guinea pigs poop in the corner, you are there to clean it up. When the garbage bag rips as I am taking it to the trash, you never complain when you have to suck up all the nasty stuff on the floor. In short, if men were this faithful and dedicated, divorice would be a thing of the past. But I have a confession to make. I've met someone else ... come on now, hear me out. It's your crazy cousin, The Scorpion Cordless Vac. Don't look at me like that, it's not like I'm getting rid of you ... but there are times when I need something that's cordless and well sweetie, you have a long cord, a very long and impressive cord ... but the Scorp can go places that you just can't. Anyone else out there think they'd be completely lost... | |
| | Kmart's Mistake Has Me Livid!!!! | | I purchased a vacuum cleaner from Kmart.com. Since I do not drive and the shipping was free, I thought it was a good idea. I ordered a "Bagless," Dirt devil vacuum, but when it arrived, there was a bag attached to the inside. I got online to see how this mistake happened. At the top of the page, it is described as bagless, but if you read the description and specifications, you find that it is not bagless and all. I have not decided whether to keep the one that I have or return it. I really wanted a bagless, but I do not want to go through all of the trouble of returning it. Now I wish that I had went to the store and bore the headache of lugging it home on the bus. At least I would have got way at paid for. This is the second time I have ordered from Kmart online and this is the second time they got my order wrong. I will not be dealing with their site again. Kmart use to be special to me, because I worked at their portrait studio when I was eighteen and now one of my nieces is working there at eighteen. But I just don't feel like being bothered with them any more. Has anything like this... | |
| | how much help do you get with housework? | | my boyfriend lives with me and i thought we'd share the housework when he moved in here. he lives here, he can help out, right? wrong! he pays half the bills but appears to think that he doesnt have to do anything to help clean the house. he only does things that pertain to him, his laundry, cooking what he wants and not doing his dishes afterwards, etc. the dishes can sit in the sink for days on end and he will not lift a finger to do them and if he does, he does only what he dirtied up and leaves mine sitting in the sink. i hate dirty dishes in the sink, it drives me nuts but here lately i will let them sit seeing how long it is before he lifts a finger to do them all or if i end up doing them. his half of the bills he pays, he must think that it includes maid service, me! here lately too, he has signed up for facebook and is addicted to playing alot of the games in there. today, all he did was eat breakfast, go play facebook games, go out and get his mail out of the mailbox, play more games then off to take a nap before going into work. i know that i'm out here online alot but i have enough sense to know to get offline and do things around the house and yard work. him, play... | |

| | Product Reviews | | I thought it might be helpful for people to give their opinions of products they have bought.I'll start this off with a bad review.Hoover Fusion vacuum cleaner.
I bought my first one about two years ago. It's supposed to be comparable to the Dyson vacuum cleaner. These vacuums are supposed to never lose suction. The Dyson's are $400 and up.The Hoover was $130 when I bought it about two years ago. It's now down to about $100.The problems I've had with the Hoover Fusion are that the wheel assembly underneath the vacuum broke off and the chamber inside the dirt cup is very hard to clean and ends up getting a nasty odor.I've been through two of these vacuums in almost two years and the two same problems with both units.I went out and bought a Eureka Maxima for $60 yesterday and so far I like it.I will review it after I've used it more.

| | How are you shopping for this Christmas season? | | Hello everyoneI have one daughter 14 years old. She will not be getting all the items she wants this year. I have not thought relly what to give her. I am not shopping for anyone other than the kids. That is the biggest change I have had to make. I have three boxes to fill for my nephews. The items will be thier favorite snacks, cereals, juice, even a few clothing items if I find them on deep clearance. I went to family dollar today to buy a lot of the items. My sister could not believe the amount of cereal I bought at good prices. I got these frugal ideas from Oprahs show this year. I bought my sisiter a dirt devil vac. I know she needed it bad. So I ended up giving it to her today. She is on mylot so you may read a post later on it. Enjoy your evening.. | |
| | I'm in LOVE! | | At the tender age of 48 (GASP!), I have, at long last, fallen deeply and truly in love. This is surely a love that will last forever... or at least until the warranty expires! That's right, my friends, the new love of my life is my Dirt Devil Reaction vaccuum cleaner. It's the first "cyclonic" vaccuum that i can actually afford. It was only $149 U.S., as opposed to the Dyson line of cyclonics, which start at about $400.I am here to report, the cyclonic vacs DO hold suction much longer than their traditional counterparts. It is not true that they never lose suction, but it takes a great deal longer, several empties of the dirt cup, before you have to shake out the foam rubber piece of the filter to get rid of the dust. They have also redesigned the dirt cup and made emptying it a breeze. I bought my first bagless vac in 2000, and the only thing I never liked about it was the clunky way you had to empty the cup. All better now, just lift the huge dirt container off, hold it over the trash can, push one button, done!Must go now, surely there's something that needs vaccuuming.....! | |
| | What Type and Brand of Vacuum Do You Use? What Do You Think of It? | | We are moveing soon and I am faced with haveing to buy a new vacuum. My new house will have all vinyl and ceramic flooring and just rugs so I do not want to spend alot of a heavy duty vacuum. However, I also do not want to buy a piece of crap. I am cosidering a stick vacuum or a small cheap canister. Each has it's benefits so it makes it hard to decide. I could get a small bagged canister vacuum, which would allow me to vacuum of cielings and fans and would be convienient whan the time came to throw the dirt away, but the affordable canisters don't have a brush roll and wouldn't do a very good job getting pet hair out of my rugs/mats. Or I could get a bagless stick vac with a brush roll which might do better a better job on the rugs, but I am concerned about the suction not being as good with a bagless vac (and stick vacs are always bagless) and also then I'm not sure how I'll clean dust webs from the ceiling (I'm only 5' tall). So what I need from everyone here on Mylot are you honest opinions of some of the following vacuums, or recommendations of other vacuums that are affordable and good. I am cosidering the following vacuums: Eureka Boss Hand and Stick Vacuum - $39.83, DIRT... | |
| | Sweep Vac | | My roommate and I have 2 cats and a dog and would love a great sweep vac but have heard the Dirt Devil and the Swiffer are bad... Anyone with any good ideas? | |
| | Moms out there....do you vacuum everyday? | | I am starting this discussion because am tired of welding our Dirt Devil heavy vacuum and I do it every single day...vacuum the entire house because I can't stand vacuuming one room and not doing the rest. I am not a neat freak but my toddler leaves a fruity pebbles trail on the carpet most of the times, even if I told her to just eat at the table. Next thing I know, I see some on the living room. Aside from that, we got a little dog too and my daughter just want to roll around the carpet even if I told her to sit in the couch if she is watching her program. So, do you vacuum everyday? I wish I had Oreck though coz I wouldn't mind doing it everyday, but welding a heavy thing around is just too much. | |
